Sweeping autumn leaves off the back deck this morning, I noticed how each leaf was a little different. I bent down to take an even closer look. They were each so unique! This was an amazing discovery.
I went inside to look for my camera, because I wanted a picture that would show what I had noticed. Camera found, my attempts to capture individuality proved frustrating. A picture of all the leaves together made them look all the same.
It was only when I looked very closely with my own eyes that I saw the specialness of each leaf. I had to slow down enough to appreciate each leaf before I was convinced it was different from the others. Turning them over, I noticed that some leaves were darker on one side than the other. A-ha! The leaves had two different sides! Another stunning discovery.
This made me wonder about how I look at people. Do I take the time to really appreciate what makes each person unique? So often, the first thing I do is criticize or compare them to others. Why is this?
