You’ve heard me talk about my struggle to slow down and be in the present moment. This week, I discovered yet another way to be in the now: compose a gratitude list. Naming ten things I was grateful for required me to sit quietly. Suddenly I wasn’t rushing about. I wasn’t thinking about what I want to change. I wasn’t regretting something I did. I was giving thanks for things that are true, right now.
I’m sharing my list because this may be the secret mindfulness trick you need right now!
- I’m not on RAGBRAI (Great Bike Ride Across Iowa).
- Air conditioning.
- India Star.
- My computer.
- My new walking shoes.
- Everyone in my extended family is well.
- We are going to entertain two of my sisters in August.
- An upcoming visit with my oldest son and his wife in their home on the Mississippi River.
- In August, face-to-face time with one of my granddaughters and her family.
- Precious time with my great-grandson Sully so I can read him “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!”
I’d love to know if this method works for you! Please let me know. Share your list!
