The prompt for my writing group on Wednesday – a group you will be hearing more about in 2022 – was a line excerpted from a poem by Joyce Sutphen. I appreciated the line, but I loved the poem’s title: “Now That We Know Anything Could Happen.”
Doesn’t that title resonate after the two years we’ve been through?
One line from the poem: “We live in fragile skin and bones.” Undoubtedly I heard this particular line because as I continue to age (thank heavens for that) I’ve been thinking about how to care for my precious human body.
I read recently, can’t remember where or find it, the idea that we need to spend half of our time caring for our bodies. Half.
Let’s be reasonable and speculate that the time they were speaking of consisted of a normal workday: Eight Hours.
That would mean four hours spent taking care of our bodies.
Could I do it? What would it look like for me? Practicing Tai Chi Chih, TRX, walking, bands, planks, Barr, for four hours seems a bit excessive. but when I remember that if my body isn’t in good shape, nothing else matters, I think again. I’m still thinking about this.
Does spending half of your time on your body seem feasible? Why or Why Not?

we will not whine!
